After too many giggles and way too much cava we made our way to the coast to get some fresh air.
Feeling particularly naughty Tez and I snuck off to a modern heladería to try the local ice cream. This was the first and only sweet dish we had in Spain!
We bought a few cones of pistachio, chocolate and passion fruit and found our friends at a nearby cafe.
Melón and Elena were flying in the morning to Tenerife, Tez was heading to Galicia and Francisco and I to Prague.
Joacqo and Sarah had been boasting about La Paradeta a self service seafood restaurant close to their apartment so we put on our best and grabbed a spot in the queue.
La Paradeta was so great and they couldn’t of picked a better spot!
I loved the set up-
You walk in and you’re greeted with a counter of fresh raw seafood. It’s as if you’re at a fish store
You order by weight, 1/2 kilo of this, 300 grams of that, 3 tuna steaks, massive handful of razor clams, half a doze oysters, etc.,they pile it on a trey, give it to the kitchen and hand you a number . You’re then sent to the cash register where you order your drinks, collect your glasses and flatware and pay.
We sit and patiently wait for them to call our number.
Individually dishes start pouring out of the kitchen where you go and pick them up from the little window.
I didn’t think the day would come when I would turn down more tuna steak.
We barely finished it all and agreed that the mussels were the star of the table.
Something about that tomato sauce… yum!
Why can’t we have this in Buenos Aires? Endless amounts of fresh delicious seafood available on all corners. I mean we have the ocean and the Rio de la Plata!
We savored every bite and talked about our next meet-up. Where? When? Should we invite others?
Tez I’d see in Paris in a few weeks. Melón and Elena are thinking of Central & South America 2014. Joacqo (and hopefully Sarah!) Argentina for the new year.
Can we make this an annual thing, guys?
Pack a bag, venture to some amazing part of the world and have endless adventures together?
So much love for these guys.
Hasta la proxima viaje!
